Even the US military has been accused of using this technology in their Psychological Operations Unit, (PSY OPS) campaign.
This socially relevant documentary not only traces the history of this phenomenon, but seeks to determine the validity and potential threat that may or may not exist. I see the argument as being that subliminal indoctrination exists and is being used on an almost universal scale in American society, in both the public and private sectors. [The film doesn't specifically exclude other nations or cultures - just doesn't address them.] It concludes that this is a problem, rather like the worried hero in _They Live_; the implication being that if we can somehow give everyone the “decoding spectacles”, we’ll all be O.K.

My concern with this solution is that it presumes that “natural/normal” human decision-making is sound.
Your film essentially examines _pistis_, and proposes to return people to _eikasia_, a sort of contemporary “noble savagery” glimpsed, perhaps, in those blissful people you interviewed on the street. I am sure that you would agree that removal of the _pistis_ environment, were that possible, would hardly propel the masses up into _dianoia_ (a state of rigorous, objective reasoning).
