The new 2:20 trailer for Colombiana shows a lot of promise (which should be no surprise as Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen, the brainiacs behind Taken, the Transporter series, The Professional and La Femme Nikita, penned the characters and script) even though it looks to follow the simple action script forumla.

Trailer starts with a cop who is moving towards his car and as he sit in the car beside his partner to eat the food and drink tasty beverage a wreck less car hits the cop car – bOOm. Then excitement begins after an immediate arrest of a girl whose parents were killed in front of her eyes when she was nine years old. Sound effects are the main element of trailer that makes it more excited in every upcoming second. Background music and the scenes are combined perfectly that binds the viewer to trailer. We give it 4.7/5.

Parents need to know that this revenge-driven action thriller focuses on a hit woman (Zoe Saldana of Avatar and Star Trek) driven to exact vengeance against the people who killed her parents in front of her when she was a child. Trailers promise plenty of edgy violence, with heavy gun use, physical fighting, and death.

Jean-Luc Godard’s famous remark that all you need to make a movie is “a girl and a gun” doesn’t quite hold water for Luc Besson. In his world, you need one girl wearing as little as possible, and at least fifty guns, preferably firing at the same time. Such is the formula applied to Colombiana, the latest EuropaCorp effort produced and co-scripted by Besson, and directed by in-house auteur Olivier Megaton, whose mise-en-scène is often as subtle as his last name sounds. Still, there are guilty pleasures to be had in this frenzied B starring Zoe Saldana (Avatar, Star Trek), who gives an acrobatic performance that makes the overcooked material watchable, if not entirely enjoyable.
