Drawing some intriguing parallels between the work of the prostitute and that of the psychiatrist-both have clients, both charge for sessions, both take on roles that serve the needs, psychological or otherwise, of those they serve, Jeanne Labrune’s drama stars Isabelle Huppert and Bouli Lanners as, respectively, Alice, a disaffected call girl and Xavier, a shrink with a crumbling domestic situation. With more talked about than shown, the film is filled with pointed dialogue and double entendres
Alice Bergerac (Isabelle Huppert) is a upper-class prostitute who ‘specialises’ in role playing for businessmen in order to pay for certain antique items she enjoys collecting. Xavier Demestre (Bouli Lanners) is an uptight, angry psychoanalyst whose marriage is falling apart. These two end up crossing paths, and changing each others lives for the better. What appears to be a very promising film about the relationship between psychoanalysis and prostitution ends up being very underwhelming and unsure of itself.
The similarities drawn between the two professions are not subtle, with the patient/client interactions and payment methods all much the same. The performances in these scenes, and generally across the board are fantastic. Huppert is particularly good, especially in the second half as we witness her question her career and future. It is the characterisation and story that are the weak points, as there are many sub-plots and characters throughout, all of which could have been taken fascinating directions, but none feel fleshed out or even completed. The film ends in a very conventional manner, and by this time it feels like we have seen a series of disjointed scenes rather than a proper film.

Unfortunately, there are many good ideas here, and technically the film is fantastic. The score creates an interesting, almost menacing atmosphere throughout, and the film is shot beautifully, but there is not enough story for this movie to be anything other than a bit above average.

आरोप है कि एटीएस ने कहा है कि एनआईए इस जांच को पूरा करने में सक्षम नहीं है. इसी आरोप के बाद एनआईए ने जांच को रोक दिया है.
एनआईए के सारे अधिकारी मुंबई से वापस दिल्ली आ गए हैं.

If nothing else, "Conan" deserves respect for having the balls to quote Nietzsche at the beginning of the film. A sword and sorcery film that doesn't go for the easy and obvious option of extreme cheese is very rare. Indeed, Conan the Destroyer, this film's mutant half-sibling, falls into that very trap. Having set this curiously ambitious standard, Conan veers wildly from pole to pole. Visually, the film is very impressive. The desert landscapes of Spain; Thulsa Doom's intimidating temple; the party to end all parties and Conan's rippling muscles are all pluses. Basil Poledouris's score is excellent. But there are times when the film is just silly. Sandahl Bergman's endless cries of "Do you want to live forever?" are a needless modernistic touch and always sound rubbish. Witness when she comes back from Valhalla at the end to save Conan's ample butt from being wasted. The film's silliest moment, though, is ultimately its greatest. A sublime moment that encapsulates everything about this film: brute strength and insanely cruddy dialogue. Conan, asked by a wise Warrior master to describe "what is best in life" philosophises: "Crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentation of the women". What self-respecting Republican could want more?

I hated this movie when I first saw it in a theater upon its initial release in the spring of 1982. I almost walked out on it in disgust. I *did* step out in the lobby and smoke a cigarette in the middle of the movie, but I went back and suffered through the rest of it.
I hate it even more now that I have another relatively FAITHFUL adaptation of a classic work of heroic fantasy -- _The Lord of the Rings_ -- to compare it to. The people who made that movie actually *respected* the original source material a little bit, and actually *tried* to tell somewhat the same story.
I blame writer-director John Milius primarily. He has done a lot of other very fine things, but he sure fouled up here. My impression is that what he *really* wanted to do was make a movie about the historical Genghis Khan and the Mongols, which would have been a perfectly okay thing to do, but they wouldn't give him the money for that, so he just grafted or spliced the name "Conan" onto his (Milius') pet Mongol story.

Adapted for the big screen from Larry Beinhart’s book by the same name, Salvation Boulevard premiered at the Sundance Film Festival boasting a cast including Greg Kinnear, Pierce Bronson, Jennifer Connelly, Ed Harris, Marisa Tomei, Ciaran Hinds, and Isabella Fuhrman. Though the conversation spurred on by the satire is one in which I plan to further engage, the movie itself left me desiring to read the original, which comes highly recommended via the review of others.
Despite a Sundance premiere, Salvation Boulevard seemed to be about as deep and thoughtful as the object of its satire; mega church culture and the pastors who lead them. One thing that could not be denied, though, was the smirk on my face as I pondered the possible intentionality of George Ratliff and this face-value choice. With one of Ratliff’s most notable works being the 2001 Hell House that documents the real-life hell-as-reality haunted house turned outreach for a Texas church, is there a hint of actual strategy in the furry of Salvation Boulevard’s lose end tying and obvious devil-is-calling-your-cell-phone scenes?
